Melbourne International Comedy Festival presents
Lin Dong Fu Made In China (Or, How Shanghai Slim Found Jazz) (CHN)
Growing up in Shanghai, Lin Dong Fu defied The Cultural Revolution to pursue his passion for frowned-upon “Yellow Music” (jazz) and forge a career in China’s rapidly developing entertainment industry.
He has become a renowned celebrity TV host, actor, voice-over superstar, and raconteur but most importantly a jazz impresario. Christened Shanghai Slim by no less a jazz legend than Bo Diddley, Lin Dong Fu’s House of Blues and Jazz is known all over the jazz world as THE place to go in China.
Recently Lin Dong Fu travelled to Africa to try to unravel the African inside a Chinese person that drives his passion for music so alien to his own culture.
This new show is a series of fresh stories told with wit and charm by one of China’s great showmen.
