Melbourne International Comedy Festival presents
Russell Kane - Human Dressage (UK)
Synopsis
Nominee Edinburgh Comedy Award 2006, 2008 & 2009
Off the back of a dynamic Melbourne debut last year, Russell Kane whips up another theoretical smoothie. He pontificates on prancing, posing, preening – is it always the ego at play? Can even kindness and altruism be stealthy ways of seeking approval?
Russell’s manic, yet alarmingly astute, objection pin-points every human act as a longing for love. Even evil is a twisted quest to achieve good. That’s the point of life: It’s pointless. It’s a dressage, a meaningless jig, a purposeless something drifting terminally into silliness and jokes about Russell’s nan.
(He promises swearing and a number of low-brow moments, which eat into the very core of his idea)
“His ability to display the cerebral, emotional, visceral and cultural without coming off as a tosser – well, that’s the irresistible mark of Kane.” The Age
“A natural jester.” The List, UK
