The Legal Comedy Debate - The Ideal Client: Innocent or Guilty?
An ideal client doesn't just pay their bill without complaint or question. An ideal client is good or bad, saint or sinner and above all innocent or guilty.
An innocent client won't change their story or fail to disclose an extensive history of prior misdemeanours. They don't come with surprises, they appreciate your help, happily pay your costs and present a set of facts and an alibi to secure their innocence.
A guilty client places their fate in your hands. They are encouraged to put money into trust before they see their future living conditions (aka prison), they feel the justice system and the entire world is against them, they attract a higher account, which could go paid or unpaid. To our detriment, a guilty client will feign innocence despite video evidence to the contrary.
If a lawyer could pick their ideal client, would they be innocent or guilty?
