Having never seen Pete before I had no expectation and whilst I'm not sure how that impacted on my experience, all I know is I like him! He has an awkward charisma that seems to play out with his inner monologue getting lots of airtime, and you're witness to him conferring with his thought patterns often affirmed with lots of repetition. I mention this because I read a scathing review which interpreted the repetition as Sharkey being scattered and forgetting material. There was only a handful of punters in on the sleepy Sunday night I saw him and I wonder if a bigger audience would have bouyed his enthusiasm somewhat. My only criticism is it seemed to be very short, but perhaps this was a venue thing.
Personally I like the oddball comedian, the one that makes you squish up your face in confusion and bewilderment. Some people prefer the Arj Barkers of the world. I like Pete Sharkey.
