After a much-loved appearance on Spicks and Specks with Ross Noble, and starring opposite Ricky Gervais and Kate Winslet in Extras, Francesca returns to Melbourne Comedy Festival for the first time since 2003!
This is award-winning comedy from the heart with extra bite – funny, philosophical and unique, guaranteed to challenge and entertain.
Francesca takes an honest, personal and hilarious look at our obsession with the word ‘normal’ – how we define it, how most of us crave to be it, why so many crazy things in the world are called it and all the bloody politics which come with it. As a ‘wobbly’ comedian, it is one label which has haunted Francesca for most of her life...until she realised that she’d never met a ‘normal’ person before. Have you?
The huge popularity of injecting stuff into your face to hide wrinkles, celebrity diets of eating nothing but...erm, air, and vomiting into toilets after stuffing your face with Big Macs suggests that, no matter what body you’re born into, most of us are desperate to be seen as ‘normal’. Fascinated by the power that a six-letter word has over so many people, Francesca shares her own life-changing journey of self-discovery, falling in love...with an arsehole, getting over that arsehole, ripping up crappy labels and making up new ones, and trying to answer the big questions facing us all (wobbly or not...) like where happiness lies, what the meaning of life is...and why reading celebrity magazines is, well, like eating poo.
This is a show to make you laugh, and go home feeling better about being alive and about all those bits you’ve never liked about yourself. After all, what’s so great about being ‘normal’ anyway?
The performance previously advertised for Sunday 17th April has been cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
