Punk rock. New York. London. Brisbane? In the late 1970s Brisbane was a conservative backwater – with a thriving punk scene. Bored teenager Ross Daniels was just looking for some fun, but instead fell into a netherworld of wild gigs and misfits.
He was there when the cops stormed the Blondie concert. He touched Joe Strummer's leg when The Clash played Cloudland. He saw The Stranglers beat up their audience at the Queens Hotel (and his granddad had to come and pick him up).
After last year’s acclaimed The Transposed Man, Ross premieres Punked – a first-hand account of street riots, corrupt police and some really good music.
“Daniels' ability to satirise is remarkable.” Australian Stage
“His observational and mimicry skills are superb…4 stars.” The Age
