There is no party guest more welcome at Comedy Festival’s 25th birthday than "one of the most powerful comic brains in Britain" (The Scotsman), the enchantingly ambiguous Simon Munnery.
Having made his inaugural visit in 1998 under the guise of Alan Parker Urban Warrior, Simon returned in 1999 as The League Against Tedium and was anointed comedian’s comedian with the hallowed Piece of Wood Award – his vampiric bite one of the oldest to mark the timber.
Now he’s returning to Melbourne after a six-year absence, sinking his teeth into yet another show, which promises a beautifully honed set of nowhere-near-the-knuckle material about life, death, children and work performed with love...while wearing a suit.
“Munnery’s new show is hilarious. A truly brilliant performance from one of the finest. ****” ThreeWeeks (UK)
“He's a surreal, unique comedy force who has been being wilfully obscure for years now – there's no one quite like Simon Munnery.” Time Out UK
“This is performance art created by a genius and performed by a freak.” The Age
And from his audience...
"Self-concious (sic) intellectual bilge. Metropolitan-oriented trendo-nerdfest."
"This man is a comedy genius."
