Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Australia’s favourite improvised musical comedy team are back! With special all-star guests from the world of comedy and musical theatre. Hosted by showman extraordinaire Russell Fletcher and featuring the scorching improvised music of John Thorn on grand piano.

Inspired by made-up song titles from the audience, the cast pitch a new musical with a song from that show. The audience then votes to choose a brand new musical that is completely improvised before their eyes, complete with overture, costume changes, dance numbers and showstoppers. Every show totally different.

Spontaneous Broadway has won the special 'Palme D’Broadway' at the Melbourne Fringe, and sold out seasons at the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival and The Famous Spiegeltent.
