To most, the idea of fanfiction is laughable. To its authors, literature in its highest art form. To its larger community, the chance to make their vision of two characters bumping nasties an even creepier vision. To the rest, a constant source of hilarity. Embracing the medium that is usually used by 14-year old girls who giggle at the word "flaps", this young Kiwi band of writers explore worlds and situations outside of the original pop culture sources. There's a certain charm to this childish prose. Sometimes the "fics" are well-written, such as Adam Richard's beautifully penned Doctor Who story.
Yes, this could be the niche-est show of the festival, but anyone can admire the passion behind it.
