Melbourne International Comedy Festival proudly presents

David O'Doherty Seize the David O'Doherty (Carpe DO'Diem) (IRL)

Irish Comedian Of The Year 2010
Winner Best Show Award 2008
Edinburgh Fringe

Having toured the world last year with the saddest stand-up comedy show in the history of entertainment – it was about crippling depression that ended with a (mouse) murder - David O’Doherty is ready/delighted to unleash the next episode. Seize the David O'Doherty (Carpe DO'Diem) aims to fix everything that’s wrong in the world. Seriously, everything. Think of a thing that’s wrong with the world. Well I’m going to try and fix that. Well I hope I get round to it. Listen, I’ll do my best.

Life is a marathon, not a sprint. But it's a sort of marathon that you have to sprint. And there are hurdles and weights to lift. And cycling. And archery. Life is basically the Olympics. But at the end you don't get a medal, you die.

In the past year David has become the first Irish comedian to have his own Comedy Central special in America. He has toured the UK and Ireland and has become a regular contributor to British television shows such as QI, Have I Got News For You and Would I Lie to You.

“O’Doherty commands attention from start to finish and it's a pleasure to watch a comedian so comfortable onstage.” The Age

“He carries on honing his reputation as a true original of the live scene.” The Guardian (UK)

“A wonderful rollercoaster of gentle whimsy which leaves you wanting more – just short of life-changing.” THE SKINNY (UK)
