Review by Elise Faulkner
String Theory is a unique and engaging show.
Andy Matthews uses the idea of string theory to frame whimsical and allegorical tales, resulting in something that is extremely original. The fanciful stories include a modern twist on Australian bush poetry, complete with a guitar but no singing, and a wonderful love story told through rejection letters.
Matthews is a talented performer with a varied skill set, as demonstrated throughout the show which utilises a variety of different literary tropes. Each narrative is well delivered and Matthews takes full advantage of the room's lighting capabilities. Honourable mention must also be given to Mitchell Berk, who provides great music which really influences the mood of the stories.
Look, this show will not be for everyone but it's a change of pace that is well structured and incredibly well soundtracked. It deserves to be seen.
