Review by Mika Tsoi
Fricker’s comedy doesn’t deal with dark material as much as it comes from a very dark place. Some jokes deal with fish and vaginas; others with the gothic horror that was an ad for corn from 20 years ago. She stands with a guitar the whole set, the songs are funny but not the main focus. It’s difficult to imagine how authentically and deliciously dark her stuff is because you’re probably a happy person. Some of it’s lighter; it’s not all about her being the world’s best at hating herself, and competitive about it. A refreshing change of pace, so take a walk in the shades and enjoy.
