Jeez Louise, the brainchild of Linda Haggar, began in 2004 as a part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and 10 years on we’re again proud to present Jeez Louise as a part of the festival – slightly re-frocked and as a part of our professional development initiative the Comedy ConFAB: A conference for people serious about their comedy.
Men may outnumber women in stand-up comedy but on large and small screens as well as on stage, they definitely don’t out-funny them. Jeez Louise is here to embolden, inspire and grow the population of ladies in showbiz comedy.
In 2014 we’ll be discussing gals in the industry through forums and panels, as well as running workshops (in two streams – ‘freshers’ for those new and wanting to know where to start, and ‘post grads’ for professional development of established artistes) and the traditional Faux Show for new talent to help the next batch of funny ladies step up to the microphone.
