The Comedy Zone

Australia’s brightest breakthrough apprentices are ready to get to work in The Comedy Zone! Hand-picked by the Festival, this super-crew have been developing their tools of the trade, expertly equipped to become the hi-vis comics of tomorrow. Don’t miss your chance to see them in action!

Andrew Wolfe (NSW)

A wild, woolly-haired stockbroker, knows no bounds on stage,  from yelling about the dark ages to pushing you to live more like a fox. This high-octane ‘wolf of wall street’ is about to take over comedy.

RAW Comedy National Finalist (NSW Winner)

‘Confident and natural on stage - He has all the trappings of a pro.’  Chortle

Jess Perkins (VIC)

Before comedy, Jess was a high school Drama Captain destined for a career in call centres. Then she discovered Tripod, frequently sent them fan-mail, and they responded.

RAW Comedy National Finalist, as seen on ABCTV’s Comedy Up Late and C31 About Tonight heard on  SYN FM and JOY FM

Pat McCaffrie (SA)

Prior to becoming a stand-up comedian Pat appeared set for a dull career in the law, but threw that in to rant and moan about politics on stage instead. His friends are glad he’s ranting at strangers rather than them now.

RAW Comedy State Finalist, winner of Adelaide Comedy’s ‘On The Juice’ Award for Progress & Development (2015), Pat can be heard on 'Three Corners' podcast and performed at 2016 Perth and Adelaide Fringe Festivals

Sam Taunton (VIC)

Sam Taunton is quickly establishing himself as 'one to watch' in the Australian comedy scene. (Seriously, watch him. He steals.) Plus, he met Dr Karl Kennedy from Neighbours at a golf course in early 2014. There's a photo on his Facebook proving it.

RAW Comedy National Finalist, as seen on ABCTV’s Comedy Up Late, C31’s Live on Bowen,  Channel [V] and heard on SYN FM

Angus Gordon (QLD)

Angus has been doing comedy for three years now and won RAW Comedy on his second attempt. He likes to tell jokes and then mumble social justice messages, often at the same time. His Twitter bio echoes his comedy style, describing him as ‘a very serious young man’.

2015 RAW Comedy National Champion, finalist So You Think You’re Funny? Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Brisbane Comedy Festival 2016.

Directed by Bob Franklin.
