On March 29 2019, 15-year-old Patti Fawcett (VIC) from Bendigo South East College has been announced as the winner of the 24th annual Class Clowns National Grand Final held at The Forum during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival

After making her way through heats and state finals and competing against 16 other teens at the National Grand Final, Patti walks away with a $1500 prize, a $1000 workshop package for her school, plus the Class Clowns trophy.

This year’s runners up were: Whose My Parents? (Ben Depoma, Cyrus James-Hankin, Soren Pryor) from St Theresa’s Catholic College Abergowrie, QLD, and Nic Doring from Alexandria Park Community High School, NSW.

A huge shout out to the eleven other Class Clown finalists for making it through to the final stage of the competition: Samuel Allison (WA), Luke DeBuhr (VIC), Ethan Gallagher (VIC), Madi Garcia-McShane (TAS), Billie Hoban (VIC), Tyler Howie (VIC), Keaton Jones (QLD), Isaac Loom (ACT), Rerose Roro (VIC), Jack Soden (SA) and JD Talty (NSW).

On the judging panel for the 24th Class Clowns National Grand Final were Catherine Andrews, Nazeem Hussain, Nathan Lloyd and Steph Tisdell.

Class Clowns judge and comedian Nazeem Hussain said ‘Patti’s jokes all hit, she has a natural stage presence, and the sort of born funny you rarely come across. It was so exciting to see how brave, refreshing and tearfully funny the next wave of Aussie comedy is. The talent was so immense across all acts.'

Congrats Patti, all the finalists and everyone who participated in 2019!
