Deadly Funny 2010
Deadly Funny is the deadliest comedy competition for Australiaâ€™s Traditional Owners.
After a national search that included comedy workshops and state showcases, the best of the best were flown to Melbourne to compete for a grand prize of $2000 and bragging rights as the National Deadly Funny Champion 2010.
In front of a sell out crowd at the Melbourne Town Hall, 10 competitors performed, showing us why they were selected to represent their state.
The competition kicked off with MC Sean Choolburra setting the amazing pace of a fantastic show! Andrew Yarran from Western Australia was the first contestant whom got the crowd going with Josh Warrior from South Australia closing out the competitors.
Denise McGuinness from Victoria, with her daughter Dawn, punched out some deadly funny dry yarns about every day life. Sam Conway from Queensland got a heap of laughs including Sean Dow from Western Australia. 2009 Deadly Funny winner Shiralee Hood performed a feature spot and showed all why she won this deadly competition last year.
There was also a special feature act from Arj Barker (USA).
The judges had a tough decision for all competitors performed exceptionally well.
Congratulations to Denise McGuinness (VIC) for taking out the title of Deadly Funny Champion 2010. Runner up included Sam Conway from (QLD) followed by Sean Down (WA) taking out third place.
Deadly Funny has been going for 4 years and based on this years Grand Final Show the competition will continue to grow into other state and Territories across Australia.
