The Gala

The Comedy Festival's Opening Night Gala is always a highlight of the Australian comedy calendar, with its huge line-up of stars from stage, screen and the airwaves. But this year The Gala won’t be huge – it’s going to be MASSIVE. So massive that we’ve busted out of a conventional theatre and we’re heading to Vodafone Arena for all the glitz and giggles.

Don’t miss the Comedy Festival Gala Arena Spectacular, starring the crème de la crème of comedy artistes from around the corner and around the globe. It’s massive! It’s Spectacular! It’s a great night out for a good cause! Proceeds from The Gala live performance and the national television broadcast on Network Ten are donated to Oxfam Australia to support their projects around the world.

Oxfam Australia works to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering around the world.

In Malawi for example, we are helping poor communities to increase their access to food by providing them with crop seeds, livestock and access to clean, safe water. As well as helping people acquire the skills they need to earn a living, such as bee-keeping and brick-making, we are also training farmers in agricultural techniques that are sustainable and environmentally friendly.
