Joseph is a bland, anal-retentive public servant with (unsurprisingly) no social activities scheduled for April. Too spineless to create his own comedy show, he'll happily use the spare time to pass fleeting judgment on the blood, sweat and tears of others. You want ten of his stars? You better work!

Alice – Through the Looking Glass

7 / 10

Following 'Alice in Wonderland' which played for the first half of this Festival, the production team behind that show return to deliver a two week season of its sequel, 'Alice - Through the Looking Glass'.

I haven't read the book of 'Through The Looking Glass', but I have seen the made-for-TV film that stars Carol Chaaaaaaaaanning as the White Queen and this was playing on my mind as I watched this production.

That's probably unfortunate for the cast, as it's pretty hard to compete with Carol Channing in the mind of this reviewer, but they did a pretty bloody good job.

The trippy animations, oversized props and hammy acting are all back as Alice encounters the Tweedles, talking flowers, the Lion and the Unicorn and so on. The self-awareness of the cast following the performance of a fairly lacklustre song was delightful. The live music might not be as catchy as that in 'Alice in Wonderland', but it is still very good and nicely complements the quick progression of this very energetic show.

The kids will certainly enjoy this, but I can safely say adults will enjoy it just as much.

"Jam tomorrow, jam yesterdaaaay but never ever jayaaam to-daaaaay." I'm not going to get that out of my head now for the next two weeks. Damn you to hell, Carol Channing!
