Melbourne International Comedy Festival presents

Des Bishop Desfunctional (Ireland)

A bonafide mega-superstar in Ireland and one of the most enigmatic forces on the world stage, Des Bishop gave Melbourne the first nibble of his brand of stand-up last year. Now he's coming back to wax hysterically lyrical on the experiences that have shaped him into the man he is today.

Des first rocketed to stardom in his adopted Ireland following the incredible success of the one-man TV show, The Des Bishop Work Experience. Since then, Des has gone on to create two other TV productions, Joy in the Hood and, most recently, In the Name of the Fada.

"You're likely to come out of Bishop's show with the energy of the room still coursing through you." The Age

"Funny, erudite and effortlessly delivered. ****" The Scotsman (UK)

Melbourne International Comedy Festival presents

Reginald D Hunter No Country for Grown Men (United States)

Reginald D Hunter, the ‘Samuel L. Jackson of stand-up', returns to Melbourne this year with a whole new arsenal of cutting edge comedy. In this critically-acclaimed brand new show, Reg continues to take his audiences out of their comfort zones by finding humour in even the darkest of situations - his laid back approach lulling them into a false sense of security before the knockout punchline.

Warning: not for the easily offended

"Vulgar, absurd and quite wonderful." The Age

"A masterful, playful comic...Hunter gets more ideas into his 50 minutes than some comics manage in a career." The Times (UK)
