2009 Melbourne Comedy Festival Short Film Festival
THE GOLDEN GOLD MEDAL AWARDS
Everyone’s a winner at the Golden Gold Medal Awards!

There are more short film festivals around than you can poke a stick at (The Melbourne Stick Poking Short Film Festival is coming in April 2010), but we reckon filmmakers are a true community, and everyone in that community deserves a non-competitive pat on the back sometime. That’s where the Golden Gold Medal Awards come in…

The Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Golden Gold Medal Awards is the ONLY short film festival in the world where every film wins a prize.

In 2009, the Comedy Festival’s annual celebration of the screen will be presented as a live event. The Short Film Festival takes the form of a gala spoof awards ceremony where, incredibly, every single film on the program has won a major prize as nominated by the filmmakers themselves. Funny short filmmakers (that’s the films that are funny and short, not the filmmakers) are guaranteed to walk away with the gong for the prize category of their own free choice.

We don’t have time to exhibit every single prize winner publicly, but a selection of our faves will be shown at the Melbourne Town Hall on Monday 13th April as a live, ticketed event hosted by Festival funny guy Scott Brennan – in character. Scott will introduce each film in a parody of the Academy Awards and similar ceremonies, and your film will be screened in its entirety.

Be King of your own World at the Golden Gold Medal Awards.
We like you… really, really like you.
You deserve this.
