Presented by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Forget the stink bombs, the whoopee cushions and the dog ate my homework routine, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival is on a nationwide hunt for a real Class Clown. And if you’re in Years 9 to 12 it could be you.

Class Clowns is the Comedy Festival’s national high school comedy competition. Workshops and heats happen in every capital city and a heap of regional centres around the country before the state finals and finally the big one – a spot on stage at the 2009 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. All you need to do is come up with your own original five minutes of stand-up, sketch, musical parody or something wild in between, participate in a workshop with a professional, practicing comedian, and then present your act at a real, live, public performance.

Class Clowns 2009 will open for business in October 2008. Check back here regularly for updates, and pester your teacher to get on board. We mean, really pester.

For lots more details visit the Class Clowns website and put your classroom comedy antics to good use.

See you at a gig!
