Like a boomerang, it’s back! After sell-out shows at last year’s festival, Aborigi-LOL returns with two of Australia’s funniest first-nationers: Dane Simpson (hilarious Dad jokes) and Matt Ford (glorious cynic).
Hot off the back of touring Australia with the Aboriginal Comedy Allstars, these two are putting the ‘rad’ into traditional. Get some culture into ya, ‘Straya.
A bit more about the comics:
Matt is a much-in-demand comic on the Brisbane comedy circuit. His acerbic observations and hilariously blunt delivery won him acclaim at the age of 16 when he took first prize at the Class Clowns national teenage comedy competition. Still in his early 20s, Matt carries the demeanour of a cranky 40-year-old. Total comedy gold.
Dane Simpson was a Deadly Funny National Finalist in 2015. Since then it has been a fast rising trajectory for this Wagga-based comedian with a whirlwind of tours and corporate gigs. Dane also runs the Riverina Comedy Club on the first Friday of every month, so if you are in the area and looking for a laugh then do drop by. Or keep an eye out for Dane at any karaoke night. Or for Dane’s dad (his dad is also a hoot).
In 2016 Matt and Dane toured as part of the Aboriginal Comedy Allstars (alongside Kevin Kropinyeri and Shiralee Hood), which saw them perform 55 dates in total in almost every state and territory of Australia (next time, Tasmania, next time). This, by the way, was the longest independently produced regional comedy tour in the history of regional arts touring in Australia. Yes, this is impressive.

'Young, urban, laidback and self-depreciating, Ford meanders gently through dilemmas in his life before delivering the killer lines. A stylish performance that creeps up your funny bone.' In Daily
