India’s premier comedy festival is Melbourne-bound with the biggest laughs from the sub-continent! Representing the finest from India’s burgeoning comedy scene, this dynamic showcase will include New Delhi jokers Sumit Anand and Neeti Palta, Goa’s political dynamo Daniel Fernandes and Mumbai’s star of East India Comedy (with 80 million YouTube views) Sapan Verma.
India’s comedy industry is set to become the biggest in the world. This is a rare, exclusive-to-Melbourne opportunity to share the journey.
A true star of Indian comedy, Sapan Verma is one of the country’s most popular and established performers. He's a co-founder of East India Comedy – India’s leading comedy collective with more than half a million followers and 80 million views on YouTube. His accolades include performing to crowds of 80,000 people at the Global Citizen Festival India (where he opened for Jay Z and Coldplay) and performing over 800 live shows worldwide. He’s an Indian audience favourite and bound to make a splash here too – do not miss his Australian debut!
Daniel Fernandes returns to Australia after delighting Melbourne audiences in 2016, where he headlined Comedy Zone Asia and performed his solo show Unoffended. His mix of observational, political and dark humor is a hit with fans both in India and abroad, with his personal YouTube channel racking up over 8 million views. Alongside his bold stand-up and social commentary Daniel also runs a comedy production company, curating and producing live comedy across the country.
Neeti Palta prides herself on being a unique female voice in the Indian stand-up scene. Covering everything from current affairs to the daily life of Indian women, she presents a fresh and fantastically funny perspective on the world around her. Neeti won the inaugural RAW Comedy India competition and went on perform as a Special Guest at the 2013 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. She was handpicked to open for Russell Brand on his tour to Delhi.
Sumit Anand took his place in the Indian comedy scene four years ago, and while he claims to have looked back many times his profile has soared. Sumit has appeared on Comedy Central and features regularly on Indian TV’s national program NDTV Rising Stars of Comedy.
