The Funny Tonne

Congenial, charismatic and crafty, Phil Wang was an interesting comedian to watch at work.

Whether it was his considered musings on a hero’s death, male feminism or the disappointment associated with avoidable situations, Phil was quick on his feet, often surprising the audience with the direction he would take his jokes.

He challenged the audience throughout as he straddled the line of political correctness tightly, relying on his wittiness to avoid going over the precipice altogether. The bit about his love for babies being a case in point.

Admittedly, I came in with high expectations and while I had hoped for a few more truly memorable gems, I wasn’t disappointed. It was apparent that Phil could be a big star in the making.
