The Funny Tonne

Chipper

Chipper

Kirsty Webek’s show this year is a pleasure, full of blithe anecdotes about her life with her partner, and her in-laws, and what it is to reach your thirties and settle into domesticity. She discusses romantic misadventures of the past, and the caprice of humanity at large, and again her steel is revealed, the juxtaposition of her jocular manner and sharp words a clever contrast.

Webek has the ability to create a very real friendliness in the room, and then take it away in an instant before restoring it again the next, which is a particular skill, and which should not be underestimated. She is an accomplished storyteller whose buoyancy is infectious, but who is certainly no pushover.

A potent combination.
