Helchild The Apocalypse Variety Hour

A raucous hour of side-splitting satire!

Join Senator Pauline Fartson and her political mates Baloney Abbott, US president Donald Dump, Bob Catter, Scummo, the Queen and more in a vaudeville variety nightmare. Plus guest comic genius Duff.

Witness acts of tragic climate magic, political puppeteering and unbelievable ventriloquism, where live stage characters interact with video 'satellite' characters. Experience Pauline's book of prophecies and her unique Queensland traditions. Journey with thrills and suspense to an apocalyptic finish.

'Helchild is a brilliant and artful satirist who nails her characters to the floor. Pauline Fartson rocks!' Pauline Pantsdown (Simone Hunt)

Written, directed and starring Perth-born character comedian, comic poet and internationally exhibited visual artist Helchild. A non-binary queer entertainer, who has lived and worked for many years in Qld and WA.

Helchild is a gifted mimic with a unique ability to transform into over 12 well-crafted characters, both political and non-political, incorporating self-made puppets props special FX and sometimes poetry song and dance.

Helchild's hobbies include MJ and Elvis impersonating with a burning desire to perform at Parkes. Helchild has headlined at Wild West Comedy Festival, WA Pride Festival, Perth Poetry Festival, Midsuma, Melbourne Fringe, Green Left Weekly Comedy Debate, Melbourne Spoken Word Prize, radio, CTV and at many activist rallies.

This is Helchild's first Melbourne International Comedy Festival show and a world premiere. Helchild is taking Melbourne by storm!

Our choice of venue, Hares and Hyenas is a unique, atmospheric queer social hub that contrasts nicely with Helchild's diabolical characters.

Please note, the following performances will be filmed: Wed 27 Mar & Thu 28 Mar.
