Winner Spirit of the Fringe 2019 Fringe at the Edge of the World
Wukkas, the hotly anticipated new show from Cousin Tara, is back in digital form on Wednesday 24 June! Behold, WUKKAS ON THE WEB! (Do you like the alliteration?)
Gather some mates, grab a bevvy; we’ve got some wukkas to share.
Melbourne cabaret sensation Cousin Tara (Taranoia, The Spoon Monkeys, Pink Flappy Bits) is a worry-wart of the worst variety - and a pandemic hasn’t helped.
With the Melbourne International Comedy Festival cancelled, there seemed to be more wukkas than ever, with no stage on which to air them. Now Cousin Tara is ready to emerge from her cabaret cocoon, innovating the online comedy format through a combination of live stream and film.
With her original songs and charismatic wit, Cousin Tara mucks into the uncertainty of our current predicament, asking her audience: “Can I ever be anxiety-free, while the world is eating itself and me?”. Maybe she was right to worry?
Wukkas on the Web will be free to access on YouTube Live, operating on a Pay What You Feel model. Your contribution will help sustain the team of hard-working artists who created the show, many of whom have been overlooked for federal government support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Can’t make it on the night? The link will remain active on Tara’s YouTube channel.
Appropriate for audiences 16+, this is a family affair!
Wukkas on the Web is supported by the City of Melbourne COVID-19 Arts Grants.
This work was created on the lands of the Wurrundjeri people of the Kulin nation and the Muwinina, Palawa and Pakana peoples of Lutruwita. We acknowledge elders past, present and emerging of these lands. Sovereignty was never ceded.
