Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

Yianni Agisilaou Australia Says Welcome (Conditions Apply) - ONLINE & IN-VENUE

“Thought provoking, surprisingly educational and intrinsically funny, it's another helping of the sharp social commentary that Yianni does so well”  Three Weeks (UK) ★★★★

1965: Yianni’s Mum is called a dirty w*g by her teachers.
1994: Yianni is called the same by his classmates.
2019: Yianni is FINALLY called a straight white guy. Achievement, unlocked.

From his roots in Cyprus (ancient island colonised by the Brits) to Australia (ahem…) Yianni presents an hour of stories and stand up for anyone from anywhere else (and that’s most of us) about when Australia says (and doesn’t say) welcome.

“Yianni has once again proven why he is an award winning comedian and in my opinion is the must-see comedian of the Adelaide Fringe.”  Glam Adelaide  ★★★★★

“An act of real quality. Effortlessly engaging stand up…an immensely enjoyable show” - Edinburgh Festivals Magazine ★★★★

ONLINE SHOWS
The performances on Tues - Sun will also be live streamed via Zoom. These tickets are on a Pay-What-You-Can basis ($0-$50).

"Like a lot of Australians, I’m a second generation immigrant. My parents were born in Cyprus. Interestingly, last year for the first time, more Australians were either first or second generation migrants than third or greater. As the cliché goes, we’re a nation of immigrants. I’ve also lived most of my adult life in England as a first generation migrant, I lived in my father’s motherland (also my mother’s fatherland) Cyprus for a year and I’ve spent well over a year’s worth of time in Scotland over the years. So I've learned a thing or two about what’s involved in feeling like you belong somewhere." - Yianni Agisilaou

Please note, the following performances will be filmed: Tue 13 Apr, Wed 14 Apr, Thu 15 Apr, Fri 16 Apr, Sat 17 Apr & Sun 18 Apr.
