Accessibility details

The entrance to Powder Room is via the main Swanston St entrance and is on Level 1. There are approx. 20 stairs leading up a large marble staircase and the performance space is on the left-hand side once you reach the top of the stairs.

For step-free/wheelchair access, there is a ramp on the left-hand side of the portico from street level that leads directly to a doorway on the left-hand side. A small, sloped marble ramp leads towards a foyer and at the base of the large staircase, there are lifts on the left. The lift is then taken to Level 1, which opens out into a large black and white tiled foyer. Please head through the large gilded bronze doors towards the main steps and turn right down the corridor to reach the Powder Room.

Accessible seating is available near the entrance door to the performance space. An accessible bathroom is available on the Ground floor and Level 3, which is accessible via the lifts.

Security
Bag searches are required as a condition of entry to Melbourne Town Hall. Patrons are discouraged from bringing bags or items that are too large to fit under a seat to events. No outside food or drink is permitted into Melbourne Town Hall, other than water or for medical reasons. There is no storage or cloaking space available at the venue.

Melb Town Hall - Lower Town Hall

Accessibility details

The entrance to Lower Town Hall is via the main Swanston St entrance and the venue is on the Ground floor. There are three steps from street level leading to the portico and the entrance to the venue is via a doorway on the left-hand side (when facing the main steps). Once inside the doorway, a small, sloped ramp leads to the entrance to Lower Town Hall and then approx. 4 steps lead down to the seating area.

For step-free/wheelchair access, there is a ramp on the left-hand side of the portico from street level that leads directly to the doorway and then a small, sloped marble ramp leads towards the entrance door to Lower Town Hall. Once inside the venue, there is an automatic wheelchair lift that provides wheelchair/step-free access to the performance space.

Accessible seating is available on the right-hand side of the performance space, close to the accessible lift. An accessible bathroom is available on the Ground floor.

Hearing Loop
Lower Town Hall is equipped with a hearing loop throughout the performance space. Patrons can tune their own hearing aid device to the hearing loop to hear amplified sound. Melbourne Town Hall also has assistive listening devices with headphones available that can be borrowed for the duration of the performance.

Please refer to the How to Book Your Ticket section if you require the use of the hearing loop and/or assistive listening device in Lower Town Hall. Please ask a Comedy Festival Front of House staff member for assistance when you arrive at the venue.

The team behind the 'Do Go On' podcast (15 million+ downloads, an AACTA nomination and more than 20 sold out shows in Melbourne over the last five years) are back, now in quiz form!

Dave Warneke (The Project) will host with Jess Perkins (triple j, RAW Comedy National Finalist) and Matt Stewart (Stupid Old Studios, RAW Comedy Winner) as team captains, with big name guests from the Festival each week.

Working off the podcast’s fact-based comedy, Dave will guide the teams through a comedy quiz based on a different topic from history each week!
