Alan McElroy
Ah, Jaysus
Alan McElroy grew up in a very religious Ireland in the '80s and '90s.
It was everywhere! Like the big J man himself!
But instead of heavenly influences, he was heavily influenced by the holy trinity of TV, films and video games! In fact, he watched and played them all, religiously.
It was more of what would John McClane do? Or love thy Neighbours’ (He used to kiss the telly when Charlene Robinson was on screen).
Forget Christ has risen, when Sigourney Weaver was rising above the bed while possessed in Ghostbusters, that was a surprise early entrance into adulthood for a young Alan McElroy.
When our biggest idols were wise cracking, hungover cops who save the day and get the girl, it was no wonder we got sucked in.
Ah, Jaysus! is an hilarious look at growing up during a crazy time, in a mad country and a follow up to last year’s sold out show, Mad, Innit?!, a show in which Alan looked back on his life with undiagnosed ADHD as a child and those stories continue with Ah, Jaysus!.
'What McElroy lacks in number of retweets and social media savvy, he makes up for in spades with his comical prowess and jovial energy live on stage.' Appetite for the Arts
