Ashley Cloherty & Marlies Iserlohe
Ash and Marlies are… Amicable
In a world where romantic relationships rule, two women practise the lost art of making friends.
On the eve of their friend-aversary (one year since Ash spotted Marlies at the Bourke/Exhibition intersection and thought “wow, that girl has bad posture”), they explore the journey of their newfound platonic bond.
Marlies and Ash were destined to be acquaintances. Small dose pals. A close friendship wouldn’t work!
How does a millennial who witnessed the death of Princess Diana comfort a Gen Z grieving over the death of Liam from One Direction?
Against all odds they chose to befriend each other. They transcended the once-a-week acquaintanceship of book club, netball or improv class. Alright, they did meet through an improv class. But it was deliberate platonic friendship.
Can they bridge their generational differences? Will their Dash Cam Australia marathons translate to on-stage chemistry? Who still owes the other $14?
This show will explore new friendships in adulthood through character comedy and storytelling.
Ashley Cloherty and Marlies Iserlohe have studied and performed improv, clown and sketch with various schools around Melbourne and internationally, including The Improv Conspiracy, Impro Melbourne, Free Association, Barcelona Improv Group and Melbourne Uni Comedy Revue Board. Ash and Marlies regularly perform improv togther, notably in a sell-out run of an original show they conceptualised and produced called Reframed at The Improv Conspiracy.
Please note, the following performances will be filmed: Thu 17 Apr
Suitable for audiences 15+
