Melbourne International Comedy Festival proudly presents

Comedy Zone

  • Australia

Celebrating 25 years of unearthing new comedy gold, don’t miss Comedy Zone 2025, showcasing the electrifying next generation of stand-up superstars ready to take the spotlight!

Nathan Chin (NSW)
RAW Comedy Finalist 2024

An Asian-Australian Oxford-educated corporate lawyer turned comedian, Nathan has performed at top comedy clubs across Australia and won RAW Comedy 2024 for NSW. His parents have only permitted him to quit law if comedy pays equally well – so Nathan looks forward to a long, prosperous legal career.

Rachael Hornbuckle (QLD)
QLD RAW Comedy Finalist 2023

Rachael Hornbuckle is one of the most exciting new talents in Australian comedy. Her dark humour and wicked timing spare no one, with a demure delivery of hilarious punchlines you don't see coming until they've knocked you to the floor.

Omar Gad (NT)
Winner RAW Comedy 2024

Underpaid lawyer, overhyped comedian, semi-retired boxer and undiagnosed accident waiting to happen. Omar dreams of being like Steve from work (Steve has a boat) and making peace with his dark thoughts. When not performing, he enjoys brisk beach walks and gardening tropical flora in Darwin.

Tarsh Jago (VIC)
Runner Up Deadly Funny 2023 National Grand Final

Tarsh is a proud Palawa woman living in Narrm. Cheeky and charming, she's a quick-witted storyteller who explores her queer and First Nations identities with a tenacious spirit.

Stella Kappos (SA)
RAW Comedy Finalist 2024

Stella Kappos brings an architectural background, memory politics and body agency into her unapologetically elusive but totally beguiling stand-up. She rarely offers context or explanations, feeling no need to elaborate – especially since she doesn't really know you like that.

Suitable for audiences 15+

Language – occasional coarse language

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
