Alayne Dick

Purple is the Gayest Colour

  • New Zealand

Winner SYNZ Tour Ready Award 2020 NZ Fringe

Nominee Best Storytelling Award 2023 Sydney Fringe

Alayne never forgets an insult. In fact she wrote a whole show about it.

Come see Alayne's comedy show about growing up queer in rural New Zealand, reading fanfiction on dial-up internet, being a walking stereotype (a librarian with terrible eyesight who is very hot) and finally, becoming a Bunnings gay.

A show for hot gays and allies to hot gays. Also, come hear a dick joke you've never heard before.

This show debuted as part of the NZ International Comedy Festival and sold-out before it opened. People from high school came and Alayne didn't even feel weird about it.

'Funny and authentic with expertly timed jabs...nobody leaves the theatre without a massive smile.' Wellyott (NZ)

'Frenetic but laser-like focus.' Regional News (NZ)

'The most joyful show we could see this Comedy Festival.' Theatreview (NZ)

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
