Sammy Petersen

Why The Long Face

  • Australia

In 2018 Sammy Petersen collapsed onstage and quit stand-up comedy after seven years. Two of his comedy mentors, both battling with addiction, had let him down time and time again. Then, standing on his own two feet, he was asked to write a book about his facial palsy called Why The Long Face. He started podcasting instead but always wanted to come back into the comedy world that gave him respite from his life growing up. This is the debut solo show from the host of 'Confessions,' co-host of 'Not Another Crime Podcast' and 'Your Two Drunk Aunties.'

Strictly for audiences 18+

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
