Stephen Hall

For The Term of His Natural Lies

  • Australia

In 2025, for his seventh Melbourne International Comedy Festival show, Stephen Hall (Shaun Micallef's Mad As Hell, Fawlty Towers Live, Monty Python's Spamalot) brings you a night at the movies.

With a difference.

For months, he's been sourcing moments from 15 old films, re-editing them, re-writing them and re-voicing them to create a brand-new, stand-alone 50-minute comedy film...

FOR THE TERM OF HIS NATURAL LIES.

A man who insists he's 2,187 years old has been imprisoned on multiple charges of Grievously Unreliable Narration. As he relates his outlandish adventures from decades and centuries gone by, doubts begin to form in the minds of his captors... Is there any way he could possibly be telling the truth?

Join Stephen for a live intro to his latest creation – one new comedy film, made from 15 old drama films.

'Freakin' hilarious.' Crikey

'Hall is a riot.' Herald Sun

'Pure magic... a festival must-see.' Theatrematters

'A great opportunity to watch one of Australia's comedy legends at work.' Squirrel Comedy

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
