Funny Tonne 2018 applications are now open!

Do you love comedy? Do you want to see as many shows as you possibly can in one week? On your marks, get set, GO! Applications for Funny Tonne are now open!

Since 2005, the Funny Tonne has dared three die-hard fanatics of funny to go head-to-head in a race to see the most Comedy Festival shows and win the Funny Tonne title. In 2015, Sarah Trevarthen smashed the record with 178 shows (or 59-60 shows a week)!

In 2018 we're changing things up and inviting six Funny Tonners to take on the challenge. There will be two people per week going head to head to see as many shows as possible within that week. This will be Friday to Friday each week and for shows from 5pm.

This means there's twice the amount of Funny Tonners, and twice the amount of chances for you to get your hands on a special Comedy Passport!

With a Comedy Passport in hand successful applicants will defy all sensible logic in this Amazing Race of Australian comedy to see as many shows as possible during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2018 and write reviews of each show every day.

It’s not quite the race that stops the nation, but this chase for chuckles is one mighty amusing challenge.

To enter please fill in this form, attend a RAW Comedy Heat anywhere in Australia and submit 2 x 150 word reviews of a contestant.

Send your reviews to or upload via the form here!
