Helpmann Awards 2019 nominations announced!

The nominees for the 2019 Helpmann Awards have been announced, and with it comes a huge list of comedy legends being given the nod for their achievements. It is with great pleasure we send a massive congratulations to the Helpmann Award nominees for Best Comedy Performer!

Making the shortlist for the award are Anne Edmonds, Cassie Workman, Damien Power, Hannah Gadsby, James Acaster and Rhys Nicholson. These talented individuals have put smiles on thousands of faces over the past year and we're immensely proud of them all!

The Helpmann Awards is one of the most established artistic awards in the country, and recognises distinguished artistic achievement and excellence in all forms of live performance. With that, we are thrilled to acknowledge and extened a massive congratulations to Comedy Festival friends, past performers and collaborators who have been recognised for outstanding work in other genres.

This list includes: Tim Minchin (Best Australian Contemporary concert), William McKenna (for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role in Harry Potter), Nakkiah Lui and Blackie Blackie Brown: The Traditional Owner of Death (for Best New Australian Work), Muriel’s Wedding the Musical Nominees, Natalie Abbott (for Best Female Actor in a Musical), Pippa Graison (for Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical), Elaine Crombie (for Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical in Barbara and the Camp Dogs), and Ali McGregor (for Best Cabaret Performer).

The winners will be announced during the Helpmann Award ceremony at Arts Centre Melbourne on Sunday 14 and Monday 15 July. Congrats again and good luck to all the nominees! See the Helpmann Awards website for more information.
