Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

Shayne Hunter True Crime Walking Tour: A Comedian's Guide to Melbourne's Dark Past! - CBD

Melbourne: known for its lively laneways, incredible coffee and sporting obsession. But there's more to this city than meets the eye.

Unbeknownst to many, Melbourne harbours a history of uncanny events and strange happenings, swallowed by the passage of time.

Step onto the less-travelled paths with your comedic tour guides, seasoned stand-up professionals who'll lead you through an experience that's as hilarious as it is hair-raising. This unique walking tour unravels Melbourne's hidden layers, introducing you to a world unseen. You'll delve into chilling tales of audacious robberies, infamous gangs and other dark secrets of Melbourne. This exceptional event is written and hosted by none other than Shayne Hunter, alongside a rotation of talented comedians yet to be announced.

In 2010, Shayne made his mark on the comedy scene by being handpicked for the esteemed Melbourne International Comedy Festival's The Comedy Zone. Since then, he has toured across Australia, honing his stand-up craft and becoming one of the country's most unique and engaging comedic voices.

In 2018, Shayne took his game to new heights with his show Blaze Against The Machine, featuring at comedy festivals in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The following year, he expanded his horizons by performing throughout Southeast Asia, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar and Thailand as part of the Magners International Comedy Festival.

In 2020, Shayne's innovative and high-octane show, Crowd Control, was born. This competition pits eight comedians against each other to determine who can generate the funniest crowd interaction, all without a script. Shayne's prowess in crowd work has earned him a reputation as one of the best in the business.

In 2022, Shayne launched his weekly True Crime Comedy Tours in Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide. Guiding guests through the cities' central business districts, he unravels the dark histories of each location with a comedic and captivating twist. These tours have garnered rave reviews:

"Best value ticket I’ve had this year." Sandi Shuttleworth

'It was funny, entertaining, and educational. ... Highly recommend." Kristy Simpson

With intellect in disguise, Shayne's astute, thought-provoking and socially conscious comedy continually pushes boundaries across various venues. Don't miss the chance to witness Shayne's powerful, often frenetic comedy –sometimes vicious, sometimes raw, but always hilarious.

For event bookers: Shayne's calculated risks with each audience showcase his ability to maintain energy, material and control, even when pushing the limits. His performances are endearing and incredibly funny, making him a must-have for your lineup.

"Shayne Hunter is an Australian comedy maverick. With a smart, poignant and socially aware style, Shayne’s comedy pushes boundaries in any venue he performs in." Josh Armstrong, Promoter at BASED Comedy.

'Entertaining audiences across Australia and Asia for over a decade, Shayne Hunter is without a doubt one of Australia’s most thought-provoking comedians.' The Creative Issue Magazine
