Melbourne International Comedy Festival, in partnership with SBS VICELAND and NITV are thrilled to announce the television broadcasts of RAW Comedy and Deadly Funny 2019.

Each year, both RAW Comedy and Deadly Funny are responsible for unearthing new talent and helping many contestants launch their on-stage careers. Across the country through a series of heats, semi-finals and state-based finals, judges selected finalists to perform at the National Grand Final during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Whether you missed them live or just want to relive the excitement, tune in to witness these stars of the future as they kick-start their comedy careers.

RAW Comedy is Australia’s largest and most prestigious open mic comedy competition. For over 20 years it has showcased performers who have gone on to become household names including Hannah Gadsby, Ronny Chieng, Celia Pacquola, Matt Okine, Anne Edmonds, Luke McGregor and Josh Thomas. The 2019 RAW Comedy National Grand Final features the best up-and-coming stars of Australian comedy, hosted by Nath Valvo.

Deadly Funny is cheeky and loud, black and proud - unearthing the freshest and funniest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent from across the country. Entering its 14th year, Deadly Funny has welcomed the likes of Steph Tisdell, Kevin Kropinyeri, Andy Saunders, Shiralee Hood, Ghenoa Gela and Sean Choolburra to the program as both participants and mentors. The 2019 Deadly Funny National Final features extraordinary talent from various regions across Australia, hosted by Steph Tisdell.
