It’s a special time inside Abby Howells’ mind. Her effortless charm and stellar storytelling skills hold you in until you’re hit with the perfect punchline. There’s something so appealing about the way Abby tells a story, thanks to her warmth, the perfect buildup of punchlines and callbacks, and the ability to not take herself too seriously.

Welcome To My Dream sees Abby tell us stories of catching the bus, her feud with Wānaka’s Puzzleworld, and the dissolution of her improv troupe. A highlight came with a hilarious story of Abby’s potenital journey to homeownership, which had a striking similarity with the story of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

Abby manages a great balance between the emotional and the funny, closing out the show with the story of her breakup, and how that led to meeting her current partner. At times you could feel the emotion in the air, but it didn’t feel unwanted. Welcome To My Dream made us all leave a little happier, and with our hearts a little fuller.
