Rosie Jones self-identifies as a British national treasure, and I can’t fault her there. If every Brit was as funny as Jones, then the comedy world would be a better place.

“I Can’t Tell What She’s Saying” is not, Rosie tells us from the get-go, a show about being disabled or being gay. Been there, done that, she supposes. Time to get weird.

Rosie Jones’ humour is equal parts raunchy and considered, balancing between jokes that make the audience squeal in shock and punch-lines that land with such satisfying gusto that the applause richoches. This is stand-up comedy at its very best. “I Can’t Tell What She’s Saying” is a pillar of its genre, and Jones is undeniably one of the best international comics at this year’s festival.
