Who will be crowned Australia's funniest high-schooler?

After a month-long search for the country’s brightest young comedy talent, we’re thrilled to present the best of the best in our epic 2026 finale – where one rising star will claim ultimate classroom bragging rights as Australia’s funniest high-schooler!

Class Clowns is a national secondary school comedy competition, inviting young people to unleash their creative talents through stand-up, sketch, musical comedy or physical performance. Past Class Clowns participants include Joel Creasey, Rhys Nicholson, Annie Louey, Aaron Chen, William McKenna, Josh Thomas and more!

Bring your students to see Australia's funniest high-schoolers in action!

After searching the country for the nation's best young comedy talent, we're bringing together Australia's most hilarious high-school performers for an unforgettable showcase – and we'd love your class to be part of the audience!

Class Clowns is Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s national secondary school comedy program, supporting young people to think and write creatively; to amplify and uplift their voices, and to have a good laugh while doing so! Comprising a workshop and competition program, some of Australia's most successful comedians have participated in Class Clowns over the years, including Joel Creasey, Rhys Nicholson, Anne Louey, Aaron Chen, William McKenna, Josh Thomas and more.

Why bring your students?
All jokes aside, this an opportunity for your students to witness their peers shine on stage, celebrate fresh talent and original ideas and experience the confidence-building power of performance. Whether your students are budding performers themselves or simply love a good laugh, the Class Clowns National Grand Final offers an inspiring and curriculum-relevant excursion experience. Attending also helps fulfil English, Drama and Media Arts curriculum objectives by immersing students in real-world creative practices and audience experiences.
