Gumboot Theatre Company presents

Finn Hoegh-Guldberg & Penelope Gordon

Articulate

  • Australia

Winner Best Theatre Weekly Award 2025 Perth FRINGE WORLD

What happens when two overly interconnected share houses go head-to-head in a highly anticipated board game showdown?

It’s that time of year again, Bourke Street versus Vine Street in a game of ARTICULATE, an annual tradition steeped in history for this seemingly close-knit circle of friends. Six young adults with a myriad of quirks and unique personality traits make them either the perfect team-mate or a recipe for disaster, and hilarity ensues!  But this year is a little different – simmering under the surface are tensions, unresolved conflicts and hardcore competitiveness. When the chips are down and victory is within reach, everyone will do whatever it takes to win. What will be revealed?

Straight off a season of sold out shows at Edinburgh Fringe!

'The writers have beautifully captured the essence of the game and what it brings out in people.' Drummond Park (UK)

'Universal appeal, audiences of all ages will absolutely find something to enjoy.' Creative Reviews (UK)

'A light-hearted but earnest dive into navigating relationships in your formative years.' The Student News (UK)

'The actors artfully sell their characters, and real credit must be given to the direction, which truly shines for its creative use of space and dynamic physicality.' EdFringe Review

Written and directed by Finn Hoegh-Guldberg and Penelope Gordon, produced by Penelope Gordon in association with Gumboot Theatre Company. Finn and Penelope wrote the show after many evenings playing games with their friends and housemates, where things often got out of hand quickly! After successful seasons in Perth and Edinburgh, they can't wait to bring this show to Melbourne audiences.

Suitable for audiences 15+
