Breaking: The Musical

  • Australia

Nominee Best Newcomer 2022 Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Best Comedy Shortlist 2019 Sydney Fringe Festival

RAW National Finalist Comedy 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Breaking: The Musical is the real story of a completely fictional breakdancer's journey to the 2024 Paris Olympics, told through comedy, music and 'dance', written by Australian comedian and musician Steph Broadbridge.

Steph leads an exceptional ensemble cast as they tell the inspiring story of ‘Spraygun’ through comedy, music and 'dance'.

The show created an international media storm when a trial run was shut down in December 2024 by Rachael Gunn’s lawyers. Despite the legal setbacks the show continues to thrive.

After rave reviews and sold out shows around Australia and a hugely successful run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Breaking: The Musical returns to Melbourne for a final encore season.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
