Sam Hargreaves

Frustrations of a Railway Enthusiast

  • Australia

It has been a year since Sam Hargreaves presented Confessions of a Railway Enthusiast at Melbourne International Comedy Festival. In the time since, he has had even more experiences with the entitled, the argumentative and the know-nothing know-it-alls in the rail enthusiast community. These characters will be familiar to anyone who has ever worked in customer service or belonged to a hobbyist group.

This is Sam's second time performing at Melbourne International Comedy Festival. His work has also been seen at Melbourne Fringe, Castlemaine Fringe Festival, Bendigo Comedy Festival and Geelong Comedy Festival. He has been a cast member of the theatre-dinner show, Murder on the Puffing Billy Express, since 2018. His experiences as a volunteer at the Mornington and Victorian Goldfields Railways, and as a character performer in Days Out with Thomas the Tank Engine at the Puffing Billy Railway, give him plenty to talk about in Frustrations of a Railway Enthusiast.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
