The Best of Irish Comedy presents

Alan McElroy

I Am Chaos

  • Ireland

Alan McElroy is back with the third and most explosive chapter of his accidental trilogy of mayhem. After the manic energy of Mad, Innit?! and the Catholic-trauma confessions of Ah, Jaysus, Alan now turns the spotlight onto the one constant in his life: he is the problem. In I Am Chaos, he dives into the ridiculous disasters he creates simply by existing – the misunderstandings, the good intentions that backfire spectacularly and the moments where friends, family and total strangers wonder how one man can cause so much trouble without ever meaning to.

From burning situations (literal or otherwise) to social calamities and everyday catastrophes, Alan unpacks the comedy of being the human equivalent of a loose shopping trolley on a hill.

Hilarious, self-aware and wildly relatable, I Am Chaos is Alan at his most unfiltered.

Recent winner of Best MC at the NZ Comedy Awards & Favourite Comedian at Dunedin Fringe – so you know you're in for a treat!

'Excellent Irish storyteller performing a hilarious night of comedy.'  The Funny Tonne

'What McElroy lacks in number of retweets and social media savvy, he makes up for in spades with his comical prowess and jovial energy live on stage.'  Appetite for the Arts

'A very enjoyable hour of comedy. There is never a dull moment, as McElroy is able to find the funny side of any situation.' The Speakeasy

'Alan McElroy is the Energizer Bunny of the comedy world! Comically bouncing around the stage with a full AA battery, never once falling flat!' Pumpkins in Trees

'If it's the best of the new talent you're after, look no further than Alan McElroy... while the mic's in Alan's hand, there's no chance of getting bored.' Concrete Playground

'Audacious, ironic, frenetic, Irish! Good for a laugh!' Theatreview (NZ)

'A very talented Auckland based Irish comedian. Alan's performance is a high paced entertaining romp through the crazy thoughts of a hyperactive mind.' NZ Comedy Review
