I'm Funny, I Swear
Hey… hey you… come here. Yes you, does it look like I’m talking to someone else? Ok come close so I can whisper. So, the thing is that I’m funny. No like, really funny. I swear. I think it’s maybe because I like musical theatre, or because my obsession with serial killers started at age eight, or perhaps because every morning I try and seduce a hot man in my bathroom tiles. Like there are so many reasons. And, like, it’s not like I care what you think of me, but I will also be dedicating a whole hour, every night, for 14 nights, to listing many of these many reasons. So, like if you don’t believe me, or wanted some proof, you could come along, but I don’t care.
This high-energy comedic comp combines stand-up with sketch, burlesque, musicals and a pinch of desperation. From an absurd bath-themed strip tease to Year 5 school projects “the assurance in the title – I’m Funny I Swear – hardly seems necessary; the audience is already laughing” (The Age ★★★★).
'Pitch Perfect in both musical-ability and comedic-timing.' ★★★★ The Age
'You’re about to have a new favourite comedian.' Fringefeed ★★★★½ (Big Pants)
Directed by award-winning clown and writer Penny Greenhalgh.
Strictly for audiences 18+
Drug references
Language – strong coarse language
Licensed venue: under 18s will only be permitted with a parent or guardian
Strong sexual references
