Charlotte Grimmer

Initial Consult: Taking Diet Culture to Therapy

  • Australia

A satirical musical comedy show that explores the intricate world of a therapy session and what fitspo, diet-culture and an obsession with success can do to a person. Join actor, comedian and content creator Charlotte Grimmer as she unpacks both personal experience, observation and her imagination through rap, tap and song.  After a successful run at the Sydney, Edinburgh and Adelaide Fringe Festivals, Charlotte is excited to be premiering her show at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Trigger warning: Eating disorders, mental health.

'Grimmer’s performance is electric…There’s a playfulness in this performance that’s delightful, that’s exciting, that’s surprising, that’s moving. Grimmer’s star is on the ride.' Rob Carlton, Adelaide Fringe

'Unhinged. Easily the most talented performer I’ve seen at the fringe. Very funny.' Alistair Maxwell, Edinburgh Fringe

'Charlotte Grimmer’s heartfelt and personal story is sidesplittingly funny and profoundly moving in equal measure.' Kristen Dunphy, Sydney Fringe

'Initial Consult is the best sort of comedy solo show. One that sticks with you long after you’ve seen it and makes you smile at its memory.' Erin Murray Quinlan, Edinburgh Fringe Review

'Initial Consult is a show worth watching, and it’s worth skipping other shows for. Charlotte Grimmer plays a character that’s both alien to us and wholly relatable simultaneously, and then there’s music, comedy, shock and tap dancing.' 4.7 stars, Andrew Girdwood, Edinburgh Reviews

'Initial Consult pulls off the difficult feat of highlighting a serious message in a funny, accomplished show that’s well worth an hour of anyone’s time.' ★★★★ The List (UK)
