Kate Dehnert

Echo

  • Australia

What do you do when your life explodes? A show that'll slap, tickle, shock and bend you over with laughter.

1/3 play, 1/3 standup, 1/3 rave.

Kate Dehnert's life recently blew up.

We're talking: relationship; career; income; opportunities; visa; losing almost all of her possessions; what country she lived in; she almost died; and for some incredibly annoying reason she now has a way-too-overactive gag reflex. Like, she could stand in front of you and if you told her to vomit, she could. What the hell?

And all of this only happened because the grey areas were so strong they may as well have been technicolour.

Go out to dinner, drink some cocktails and meet Kate in the club – it's going to get raw. A brave, honest and vital exploration of an explosion and reconstruction of self.

Directed by Matt Jenner

Lighting Design by Caitlyn Staples

'Bizarre, brave, daring, probably dangerous, but most of all smart and very funny. The dawning of a psychedelicomic superstar.' ★★★★½ Herald Sun

'Dehnert slips seamlessly between mundanity and fantasy, and innocence and mayhem. Anything is possible. There’s no time for conventional punch lines here. This is a true work of unique brilliance.' Squirrel Comedy
