Alexandra Hudson

King of the Carpark

  • Australia

Alexandra isn't the King of the Carpark, but she is the queen of her own universe, the boss of advocating for herself.

She's also an expert in leaning into things (usually objects, sometimes people). She does things at things full tilt, again, quite literally and not always intentionally –  Alexandra just has an innate ability. So she's leanin' in, this time to embrace the awkward and mostly misunderstood disabled existence, with the sole goal of finding the fun in it, for all of us. Because she has a lot of fun, being disabled.

You're invited to meet Alexandra at the quandary and chaos and leave understanding this one disabled experience a whole lot better.

Alexandra is doing/ has done the following:

Joint wational winner RAW Comedy 2022 Melbourne International Comedy Festival

The Comedy Zone member 2023 Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Recipient of Creative Australia’s Arts and Disability Initiative 2023–2024

Adelaide Fringe Fund Recipient 2026

She's toured nationally, including with Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow 2024 & 2025 and Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase 2022, 2024 & 2025 and loves hitting the comedy clubs in every major city and any kinda small time gig too. The cripple gigs are her fave, she's not pulling your leg there, if ya know, ya know.

She's gone international – in 2024 to Edinburgh Fringe, full season (and for a dabble in 2022 for So You Think You're Funny), Scotland and USA ( the latter to 44 people in her cousins' loungeroom, made up of 10 or so family members and neighbours, and friends of the cousins) with her debut show, Making Lemonade.

She's been funny in a TEDx, (Byron Bay 2022). She's been funny opening for Hannah Gadsby in 2024. Unbeknownst to Dave Chappelle, Alexandra has been funny before him too.

Alexandra loves being funny to disabled people, never making fun of us. She loves being funny to nondisabled people too, and sometimes making fun of them.

This show is for people who feel pride about their own disabled life or want to understand what disabled pride feels like.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
